Moretto: Belgian side express interest in exit-bound Milan defender

By Isak Möller -

Fode Ballo-Toure is expected to leave AC Milan this summer but a lot like the rest of the outcasts, finding him a new club hasn’t been that easy. Fortunately, Royal Antwerp have now joined the race.

Ballo-Toure has been on the market ever since the start of the summer and he’s currently not training with the rest of the squad either. However, after both Bologna and Werder Bremen appeared to be in the advanced positions, nothing has materialised.

According to Matteo Moretto, Royal Antwerp have now joined the race for the Senegalese international. Milan’s demands are not high at around €4-5m, but that might still be too much for the Belgian side.

Royal Antwerp are one game away from securing their spot in the Champions League this season, winning 1-0 in the first leg against AEK Athens. Advancing to the group stage could be a good way to convince Ballo-Toure to choose them.

  1. What exactly is his problem? How did management communicate to them they are no longer needed? Cus the whole issue is annoying and seems like a soap-opera now, anybody who refuses to leave should be frozen out completely they should not be allowed to train at all, not even with the youth team.

    1. So you have a contract with your employer, a house in a place you enjoy living, and a good relationship with your fellow workers you would just gladly ditch it all and move to a country where you don’t even speak the language if asked? Somehow I doubt it.
You do realize that in the EU there are severe limitations on what an employer can do to “punish” an employee, don’t you? I guess not.

    2. Management did good job offloading the players. Not only this year, but last couple of years. It is obvious hard to gain transfer fee for players who sucks but have big contracts, like Rebic, Castillejo, and now we can see Origi and Caldara.
Players like Saelemaekers, could be easily sold, but everybody would take him for small fee 2-6 mil max, but can we be honest to tell he is valued at least 15 mil ?
At the end, stupids like Ballo Toure, are very cheap. Milan dont lose much having him just to sit with spectacors, and watch games, so why management wouldnt ask 5 million for him ?
Milan did excellent job by releasing and saving on salary some very bad players like Tatarusanu, Rebic, Messias, De Ketelaere. Than ending loans, Vranckx, Diaz, Dest, Bakayoko. It was big job having those bad players on loan and spending only on salary.
So, now only some, fineses left: Caldara, Origi, and club can handle even if they stay at club.

    3. He doesn’t have a problem. He has a contract that he’s fulfilling. He’s got every right to stay if he doesn’t want to leave and Milan have every right to pay him the remaining money on it if they want to.

They don’t have the right to deny him his profession for no reason other than “we want a slightly better player”, when he’s not injured, not been unprofessional and not done anything to breach terms.

      1. Same way Milan have to respect the contract and pay — they have a right not to use a player if they dont like how they play or train or whatever. So the same logic applies — you dont want to move, but you want to receive salary — that is your legal right, but that does not mean you also entitled to play, or train, or do anything for that matter related to your role in the team. So team has a full right to deny you even come close to the training ground, after all they pay you money and use your services the way they like. Unless it is explicitly stated in the contract (like minimum minutes, or team B squad assurance etc.)

You can ditch your carrier for that salary from Milan but you can not sot on two chairs. Sorry.

  2. Im a Milanista from Belgium and i can tell you that Antwerp is gonna try and low ball the absolute crap outta this guy . And knowing how we are with sales sometimes it wouldn’t suprise me if we caved in
