Moretto: Samardzic’s agents inform Udinese of desire to leave after new Milan talks

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have held new talks over a deal for Lazar Samardzic and Udinese have been informed of the player’s desire to move, according to a report.

Milan certainly have no shortage of players who can play as box-to-box midfielders or even a bit further forward with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Yacine Adli, Yunus Musah, Ismael Bennacer and Tommaso Pobega all still in the squad.

However, over the past couple of weeks there have been reports from various sources about a reignited interest in Samardzic, a player that Geoffrey Moncada wanted to bring to the Rossoneri when he was playing for Hertha Berlin.

According to what Matteo Moretto of Relevo said live on Playback with Fabrizio Romano (via OnlyMilan), Milan held new contacts with Samardzic’s entourage in the last few hours.

The player’s agents spoke with Udinese to let them know that their client’s desire is to go to Milan this summer. However, the Friulians are continuing to ask for €20m as a fixed sum plus bonuses in order to let him leave.

The Serbia international racked up six goals and two assists in 34 appearances last season and he was close to joining both Inter and Napoli in the past, but both fell through.

  1. I dunno if he is in his last year of contract or not. But if not, unfortunately imo the 20 mil + bonus seems a fair price for him, so that it would be really difficult to get discount. I said “unfortunately” as Milan’s fan. Ane I believe that price is outside of Milan’s budget for this year for 1 player. Other option is that Milan ask for installment for payment.
And by the end of the day, it is about the question, which one has highest priority for current transfer market, between Samardzic, Fofana (or other DM options), Pavlovic, another striker and Emerson (ugh, i wish he is just the last priority).
Milan seems to want all, hence, asking for like half of demanded price, which make the nego too long.

    1. I think management are waiting to sell either Thiaw, Saelamaekers, Adli, Bennacer before getting a bit more aggressive with the spending. We have a budget but it’s likely tighter than what was speculated earlier this year.

They could fall flat on their face and miss out on a few targets, or it could all work nicely by the end of August. They don’t inspire confidence as they always seem a bit clueless and happy to miss out on first choice targets but it is what it is, we are stuck with these guys negotiating so gotta hope they know what they’re doing.

      Forza Milan

      1. Yeah i think the budget is down to 80 mil now that CDKs sale will count next year and Saelsmaekers didnt get sold.

        13 mil for Morata
        22 mil for Pavlovic

That leaves 45 mil in the budget and they are trying to sign Samardzic, Fofana and Emerson. Simply not enough.

They need to sell Thiaw for 40 or Bennacer for 50 (or Adli and Pobega for 30 combined) in order to be able to splash 35 on Fofana, 20 on Samardzic and 20 on Emerson. I think thats the puzzle they are trying to put together now.

          1. Apparently management doesnt trust Jimenez or Terracciano as RB backups to Calabria.

But it would be better to just scrap signing Emerson and have those two as backups to Calabria, and use the money so secure Fofana and Samardzic.

Or even better use those 55-60 mil that Fofana and Samardzic will cost and sign Ugarte from PSG who is a true DMF, which is what we need most urgently. Maybe they can get him for 60 mil if hes not gonna be a starter in PSG. With the sale of Maldini and if we really got Pavlovic for 18 mil, around 60 mil is what should be left in the bank for the mercato now.

    1. True but apparently Fofana only wants Milan and Milan is hurrying to sale Thiaw to Newcastle to fund the deal. That explains why we’re back in for Emerson coz Kalulu now becomes a center back.

  2. Some may accuse our management of being cheap, but they know how to negotiate. They just don’t go into a room and immediately fold to a demand. This tactic often works, though there is a bit of risk at times.

Pavlovic for 18 million and Samardzic for 20-22 million seems like good business.
