Moretto: Why Milan decided to abandon pursuit of Everton-bound Danjuma

By Isak Möller -

Arnaut Danjuma was one of the names on AC Milan’s wish list and talks even took place with Villarreal. However, the Rossoneri eventually abandoned the pursuit of the winger, who now is Everton-bound.

Milan’s primary target for the right flank is Samuel Chukwueze and during their talks with Villarreal about the Nigerian, Danjuma came up. Being a low-cost opportunity, the Rossoneri also began negotiations over the Dutchman.

However, as reported by Matteo Moretto, Milan wanted to bring in Danjuma on a loan with an option to buy. Villarreal, on the other hand, wanted it to be an obligation and the clubs thus failed to reach an agreement yesterday.

Everton then accelerated their pursuit of the player, accepting the conditions of Villarreal and convincing the player as well, per the journalist. As such, Milan abandoned the pursuit as they didn’t want to commit to the 26-year-old by including an obligation to buy.

Danjuma was always a low-cost opportunity for Milan, as highlighted by Moretto, and they thus weren’t keen on improving their offer.

    1. Yes, we were busy dealing with Valencia for a player from Villarreal. We were tricked by them, and Everton took that opportunity.

      1. Nobody tricked anyone. This was going to be a depth signing and Danjuma himself took a different option of Villarreal. It’s not a real loss.

        1. My comment was about the mistake made in the article. In the second paragraph, they wrote Valencia instead of Villarreal

    1. I had hoped we’d sign Isaksen too, but that seems to have gone cold. Likely his club are holding out to get a few interested parties to get better offers for him – apparently Lazio are interested

    1. So what if it is about money???? What is wrong with that? We demonize players for wanting to make more money? LOL. So childish. It’s ok for a club to want to make more money when selling a player but it’s not ok for a player wanting to make more money in wages?? Sound logic donkey. Every man has a right to decide where he wants to work and for how much. Nothing wrong with that. News flash kid, most players play professional sports FOR THE MONEY. You think Danjjma is playing for glory of wining titles?? LOL. He’s an average player that wants to be PAID so hopefully he never has to work again when he retires. Something we ALL want. Don’t judge player for taking the $$$ – because my guess is if someone offered you double for your paper route job you would gladly take it @bb lol
