Leao MOTM AC Milan Slovan Bratislava

MOTM Leao states Milan must ‘always aim for the top’ after UCL win: “Quality is not enough”

Despite being named as a substitute for the game, Rafael Leao changed the game for AC Milan when he entered the pitch in the second half and received the MOTM award for his efforts.

The big talking point, as it has been on so many occasions this season, was that Leao had been benched by Paulo Fonseca ahead of a big game, with a report stating that he is the only ‘big player’ to be dropped consistently.

Despite the lack of a starting place, Leao still made an impact which will impress Fonseca heavily, and he scored the goal that set the Rossoneri on the way to victory, before aiding in the press that resulted in Tammy Abraham’s goal.

After the game, he was interviewed by Milan TV, and he admitted that the win was due to Fonseca’s preparation, whilst also looking ahead to the future, and his words have been transcribed by Milan News.

“The most important thing was to win. We took the lead, then we gave them chances that gave them confidence. The coach had prepared the match well, we knew it was not easy to play against them at home. In these games, quality is not enough to win.”

On continuity…

“Now there are three more games to go, let’s hope we win them because it’s important. Now this game is over, let’s think now about the one in the championship. Milan must always aim at the top of the table.”

  1. Please I’ve watched the Acmilan match but there is something Acmilan should work our weakness is tactics we need to work on our tactics for we to be more effective in attack and score more goals in the 4-2-3-1 that’s our formation Acmilan should be playing more of pressing the opponent and and also creating spaces for our wingers and again leao did very well but Acmilan wingers should learn how to be fast in the spaces to score early goals then our attacking midfielder like either pulisic or rejinder should be penetrative in attacks in times of controlling ball and making passes to the winger and also short and score goals improvement then Acmilan especially our right back should learn how to move the ball especially in the final third and also scoring goals and Acmilan should improve a bit in the Long ball passes. Which is important our defence especially the central defence should be alert to stop a dangerous opponent from scoring or equalising goals so Acmilan team should work on it is important. With this Acmilan can do exceedingly better.

  2. Tammy Abraham was MOTM today for me. The Leao goal was superb, but he didn’t do that much otherwise.

I didn’t like Tammy after the PK incident, but fair is fair. Today he was great — one assist and a goal, and really it was two assists since his dummy on the Leao goal is what set that up.

  3. With all due respect to morata I think Tammy Is more of a striker than him.

Men the more I see all the crosses into the the box the more I miss Giroud

    But no regret @❤️🖤

  4. On tuesday night you watch milan “play” and walk on the pitch and pass the ball back and back again and pass to the side and to the side again and pretend to start their action from the back.
On wednesday night you watch liverpool play real madrid.
On thursday morning you tell yourself: why the fcuk do i waste my time watching milan?
