Watch: Musah makes anger at Nandez challenge clear – ‘Red card?’

Yunus Musah expressed his displeasure that Nahitan Nandez was not given his marching orders during the closing stages of AC Milan’s win over Cagliari last night.

The commentators on the Serie A world feed called Nandez a ‘lucky boy’, and replays showed why. The Uruguay international was late into a challenge with Musah and didn’t only trip him to the floor but then appeared to follow through with his forearm into the back of the American’s head.

    1. Sometimes I wonder what VAR is used for if not for such incidents.
There was a foul on Chukwueze which would have been a PK.
On the buildup to the Cagliari goal, there was a hand ball that the ref didn’t notice and the VAR failed to call it back before the throw-in.
The foul on Musah should have been a red card because the hit or whatsoever on Musah’s head was clearly intentional out of frustration but the VAR failed to call it back.

      VAR is useless.

  1. An elbow to the back of the head can easily have caused brain damage and Musah career and life could have been over. I am disgusted by players who do these things as these type of players do not belong in professional sports.

This is more than a red card. This is a suspension, a fine and more disciplinary actions must be taken against players who do these sorts of unsportsmanlike things.

There was also a handball against Cagliari leading up to the goal that wasn’t called and penalty that reviewed against Chukwueze.

What a shame. VAR in Serie A is a disgrace to the sport. SMDH

  2. Good points about VAR. I’ve long thought that games should be reviewed for infractions and yellow and red cards given. If VAR doesn’t catch it live (they are under a time pressure) at least some of this can be corrected later in video review. Red and yellow cards for egregious challenges is an obvious one, but I’d also like to see yellow cards for “flopping” when it’s obvious on video. A Monday morning announcement of cards (and maybe fines) for unsportsmanlike behavior would be a welcome change.

  3. I was wondering about this play…..if a Milan player had done it hands down they would have been given a red card.

Milan usually suffers from these calls. Also that guy for cagliari should have been given a yellow for diving in the box first half too.
