Musah talks playing with Pulisic and start to life at Milan: “A lot of competition”

By Oliver Fisher -

Yunus Musah has spoken out about life in Italy and what it is like to play at the same club as his compatriot Christian Pulisic during a press conference on international duty.

Musah joined Milan last summer from Valencia and though he has found starts hard to come by, the midfielder has shown some very promising signs when he has been called upon and of course has the potential to grow even further.

He is one of 15 Milan players to be called up for international duty, which begins for the USA on Friday 22 March against Jamaica at 01:00 CET in Arlington, Texas.

That is in the CONCACAF Nations League semi-final, and a game against either Panama or Mexico follows on Monday 25 March, again in Arlington, awaits in the Nations League final. Either that, or a third place play-off.

Speaking at a press conference, Musah spoke about playing alongside Pulisic and also what the month of Ramadan is like for him, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

How is it going at Milan?

“I’m really happy with how the season’s been going at such a big team like this. I’ve managed to play a lot of games at the beginning, in the Champions League against some top teams like PSG.

“We have a lot of talented players in the middle, so there’s a lot of competition. We can all start, so it’s hard for the manager to choose who plays. I’m just ready whenever it’s my time.”

What is it like playing with Pulisic?

“I’m really really happy with the way I see Christian playing at the moment. He’s scoring a lot of goals, affecting the play a lot in our team. I’d say he’s been our best attacking player this season at Milan, so I’m really happy for him.

“He’s doing so well. I see he’s enjoying it as well and possibly having one of his best seasons. So yeah, I’m really happy to see a fellow American do such a thing.”

How is Christian’s Italian coming along?

“Whenever I could help with the language I did, and he’s learning as well. And as as you can see, he’s happy there, he’s enjoying himself, thriving. So I’m happy for him.

“He’s working really hard on his Italian and he’s managed to learn quite a bit. He really understands the manager now and [his] teammates.”

What is Ramadan like for you in Italy versus in the USA?

“Of course it’s different because, normally, I’m going to training and then going home. It’s kind of different here because I’m not going home.

“I’m always in the hotel with the boys and everything, so it’s nice actually that I’m here because the boys, after training, keep me busy. I get to be with them and then time flies and, eventually, it’s time to eat, so that’s what’s up.”
