Reports: New Milan offer for De Ketelaere imminent as Leeds watch on

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to launch a new bid for Charles De Ketelaere soon after a meeting with Club Brugge today, according to reports.

According to MilanNews, the meeting in Belgium between Paolo Maldini and Ricky and Massara and the management of Club Bruges regarding the purchase of De Ketelaere ended in the last couple of hours.

The meeting was a ‘cordial and interlocutory’ one but the negotiations will have to continue as a full agreement was not reached. There should be further talks in the next few hours in search of a definitive deal, while Milan’s newest offer is expected either tonight or tomorrow.

Alexandre Braeckman of RTL Sport reports that the meeting today allowed Brugge to communicate very clearly the price they are asking for, while there is ‘optimism confirmed by both parties’ and Milan will evaluate a final offer which will arrive ‘very quickly’. No offer was made during the meeting.

De Ketelaere absolutely wants the talks to conclude quickly, while the discussions between Milan and Club Brugge are being closely followed by Leeds, who will counterattack immediately if an agreement is not reached with the Rossoneri.

  1. When it comes to buying players (not free agents) Milan are struggling.
That of course is due to a low budget that Maldini has for him to fill all the holes of the team (CB,ACM,RW,CM).
On the other hand though, I don’t know what the belgium expect to gain from Milan.
30+2 million euro for a 22 year old who has only played in Belgium and has only one more offer from a team like….Leeds, is way too much.
I won’t be surprised if Maldini just walks away if Brugge doesn’t answer till tomorrow.

    1. ‘Teams like Leeds’ are exactly who Milan are competing with for signings, and even then debatably can’t offer as much money but can offset that with Champions’ League football. Even the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa in England can easily outspend Milan from now on.

Unfortunately, that’s only going to get worse and worse until the Premier League is a Super League by default.

And if Leeds can offer more, then Brugge have good reason to not accept Milan’s offer. They can call the player’s bluff and say “you can stay or go to Leeds” if they like, or they may decide Milan’s lower offer will still give them a decent return and it’s the only way to make a 3-way deal work. Ball’s in their court.

        1. It would, but it’s also likely to load up the club with interest payments and decrease the budget further. TBH, it might be hindering the budget at the moment, it’s probably being factored into spending plans

  2. Is CDK worth 35 million. Only 2 teams are competing for his signature. Milan originally valued him at 20 million. Inexperienced player from Belgium league. True he has vast potential but surely both Milan and Leeds need players who can hit the ground running in their first teams NOW.

    1. He’ll hit the ground running I’m pretty confident, unless we keep taking our time and he has no time to get used to the squad through training

  3. If we weren’t going to pay the transfer fee we should have just signed Dybala when we had the chance. Terrible. Brugge were never going g to “a discount” CDK lol. He has 3 years left on his deal. We either pay the price or move on. This haggling over another 1-2M is comical and embarrassing to say the least. Horrible.
