Newcastle United are hoping to send a message to AC Milan and Juventus regarding the future of Sandro Tonali.

Tonali has had a brilliant start to the new season with Newcastle, becoming a key cog in their midfield and drawing praise from many. On the eve of the Premier League match against Brighton, manager Eddie Howe spoke about his future and confirmed plans to discuss a renewal.

“We’re just waiting for the new sporting director, Ross Wilson, to take office, and he will address this issue, as well as those of Livramento and Botman. I’m sure he’s already working on it,” Howe said.

As Calciomercato.com report, Tonali arrived in the Premier League in the summer of 2023 and – after serving a one-year ban for his involvement in the betting scandal – has played a total of 66 games, scoring seven goals.

The Italy international has appeared seven times in the Premier League and twice in the Champions League this season, but is still waiting for his first goal. Having cost €65m including bonuses and signed a €7m+ net per year deal, Newcastle want to see their investment repaid.

A message to Milan and Juve

The report adds that among the teams closely monitoring the potential developments in Tonali’s relationship with Newcastle are Juventus, who are keen to improve their midfield and explored the idea before when Giuntoli was director.

Equally well-known is the strong emotional bond between Tonali and Milan, whom he has always been a fan of. His departure in the summer of 2023 was more of a financial decision by the Rossoneri than by the player, who ‘would be willing’ to rejoin his beloved Rossoneri down the line.

At the same time, Tonali is also a player who is establishing himself internationally and is starting to attract interest from several European clubs. Newcastle are not considering selling him in January, but the situation will need to be monitored closely in view of next summer.

Matteo Moretto’s recent comments regarding Sandro’s fate and a possible future at Milan certainly got the imaginations of the fan base running wild, despite the obvious financial hurdles to be overcome.

“Tonali’s comments have fueled the imagination of many fans, especially in Italy and especially at AC Milan: he’s always left the door open to his return to the Rossoneri. I want to tell you the most likely scenario right now, considering it’s mid-October.

“At the moment, it’s practically impossible to imagine Tonali leaving Newcastle in January; we’ll discuss it again in June: the interested clubs will have to work on it for next year.

  1. In his final year of the contract, and since Newcastle won’t be playing UCL in the next 5 seasons… It’s pretty easy to imagine; Isaak did it so can Sandro!

    1. In his final year 😂 he has three years remaining you fool! you Italian are seriously deluded if your bankrupt clubs can buy the best midfielder in England. You twisted his comments as usual. You have zero chance of signing him any time soon. May be when he’s over 30 no chance before. And oh yeah he will some sign a new contract.

    1. newcastle will ask lot cz he still 3y on contract, i think get free SMS (30yo) next season as RLC/ Fofana replacement is better atleast for next 2y

  2. We’ll just buy him from Chelsea in 2 years for 20 something mil.
Not a issue. We never struggled to buy from the prem, we know where to look.

  3. Tonali is just 25, hasn’t hit his peak yet.
Newcastle won’t sell him, and even if they do, it won’t be to beggars in Italy.

Keep waiting Milan fans, he’ll come back to you when he’s 40, so like in 2040.

  4. Bad mouthed folks like you guys, afterall you guys aren’t the ones splashing the cash to buy the players so what’s the reason for the unwarranted assaults on each other, at least be matured for once.
