Repubblica: Newcastle United latest club to join race for star Milan winger

By Oliver Fisher -

Yet another club have come forward to express interest in signing Rafael Leao from AC Milan if he were to reject a renewal, according to a report.

La Repubblica (via PianetaMilan) write how the latest rumours speak of an offer to Leao worth €7m net per season but difficulties that remain due to the €19.5m fine owed to Sporting CP after the unilateral termination of his contract in 2018.

If a renewal does not happen then it would be logical to think of a potential sale in the summer given Leao would be one year from the expiry of his deal and the Rossoneri would have to think about cashing in.

In addition to the already mentioned names like Chelsea and Real Madrid, Newcastle United are among the clubs keen on the Portuguese winger. They are owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and can therefore offer an eye-watering sum of money to sign him.

Newcastle beaten Milan to Sven Botman over the summer and might well line up an attempt to do more damage to the plans of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara.
