After finishing eighth in Serie A in 2024-25, Milan has decided to take the safest path to begin the new course: Massimiliano Allegri.

Napoli and no Europe
With Allegri, the Rossoneri will return to pragmatism, solidity, attention to detail. After years in which the club have tried to build an attacking and proactive but often fragile game plan, today the goal is to return to winning by any means.
To do that you need a coach who knows how to provide balance, not only on the field but also in the dressing room, something that was always missing with Paulo Fonseca first and then Sergio Conceiçao.
In this aspect Antonio Conte at Napoli succeeded perfectly, balancing everything by building a solid team, difficult to beat, with clear tactical principles and a recognisable identity that allowed them to become champions.
It is no longer a question of spectacular football, but of effective football, and Allegri is number one at this. It cannot be a coincidence that in his career he has won six Scudetto, five Italian Cups, three Super Cups and has reached two Champions League finals.
With the choice of Allegri, Milan has sent a clear message to the entire fan base but also to the dressing room: there are no more excuses. Having admitted their mistakes, the management want to follow in the footsteps of Napoli.
Without European competitions, the Diavolo cannot limit themselves to aiming for fourth place, but must immediately return to being competitive for Serie A, having focused on an experienced coach, capable of giving a strong identity and building a winning group.
Then of course, during the season a series of factors follow one another that could simplify or complicate things, but there is no other way than this to return to giving credibility to a project that completely lost it last year.
In addition, there is also a personal issue to take into consideration: in 2012, Conte’s Juve snatched the tricolore from the chest of Allegri’s Milan after a season full of controversy. Who knows, maybe Max can take revenge.

He won 5 of those titles with a Juve squad roads ahead of any other team in Italy, that doesn’t mean much for this Milan unfortunately we lack the strength in def mid or attackers they had, we’re only stronger on the wings than that Juve side. His second spell where he won just one trophy proved this and this is more realistic to this Milan squad now
He won 5 titles on the back of Conte’s team. There’s a reason why no one else signs this dinosaur but has his cronies lying for him saying Real Madrid were after him.
Enough with this Napoli nonsense. A team jumping from 10th place to scudetto is very very rare. There’s no model to follow here. It’s like saying if you want to get rich, follow the path taken by the last lottery winner.

The other point about Napoli’s title this year is that they have won 2 in 3 years.
