Joao Felix scored on his debut to send San Siro into jubilation, but former Barcelona and Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia has voiced some harsh words for the AC Milan talent.
In recent years, Felix has struggled to find consistency on the pitch and off it. He has struggled to show his best, and as a result, he has regularly been relocated. As a result, he has gained several discreditors.
Garcia is one of those and speaking to ESPN today, he had some harsh words for the former Barcelona attacker, even comparing him to legends of the game like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Milan News have relayed his words.
“I believe that João Félix, at the moment, has not yet understood one fundamental thing in modern football: pure talent is no longer enough. Quality, technique and field skills are important qualities, but not enough to succeed at the highest level.
“Perhaps this discourse did not apply to phenomena like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, who were simply in another category; but in today’s football, if you play for teams like Atlético, Barcelona, Chelsea, or now AC Milan, you have to give something more.”
Tim Notke once said, ‘Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work’, and Felix will not be able to coast under Conceicao, and the San Siro crowd will not allow it either.
For now, though, we have not seen signs of coasting, so let’s focus on the strengths rather than worrying about currently non-existent issues.
Who cares what Luis Garcia says??
What a blatant stupid comment, really. How many players, not just currently, but in ALL of football history, have reached the same heights as Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo? 3? 5? Anyway, what a stupid parallel, frankly.
“Felix will not be able to coast under Conceicao, and the San Siro crowd will not allow it either.”
Luis Garcia might be right about Conceicao but when it comes to the San Siro crowd he thinks that the standards of the San Siro crowd Is still on the levels from the time he played. The San Siro crowd has been allowing players to coast for almost a decade now. No case is worse than that of Joao’s fellow countryman Leao.
But, Luis Garcia is right about everything else.
I think the San Siro crowd was fine with Leao when he was Serie A MVP. Maybe the protests at San Siro have more to do with the reverse Midas touch of this clownish management?
Milan made a mistake by taking lazy Joao, as if lazy Leao was not enough. If the plan is to deploy lazy Joao as AM, then Alex Baena would have been a very good, viable option for Milan.
We dont care what an Interista thinks.
7 CL trophys.. how many Inter got mate? Hahahahhahahahahhahaha big team nooooooo
As if I posted here for you.
Shut up and get lost 😡
Neexxxttt
haha cool down.
Perhaps, you should worry about your lazy Inter team getting slaughtered by Fiorentina yesterday, not who Milan got.
Well, Inter are far from being a top team and have their own issues, but still they are not competing with Fio for the last UCL spot 😉
Please don’t talk about Champions League – we all know who is the king in that category in Italy – hint, it is not Inter! LOLZZZZZZZZZ
You talk about 2 decades ago. Better talk for the present.
Yeh Felix looked really lazy in his debut… Let’s write off an entire half a season before he’s barely had a training session… Another slow day on sempremerde I take it?
Felix tends to drift off in contribution after strong starts. I hope he is consistent as Milan needs it as much as he does.
Inter also tried for Joao… Check it out.
Fortunately they did not get him.
Inter fan pls stop trying to console urself by lashing out on milan players ,we like our lads like that concentrate on ur squad
That was for the busybody intermerda.
Grow up.
I guess that’s how you say hi to your dad each time you see him, kido
Too many plastic fans around here.
Spare us your fake tribalism.
Given the amount this website has written about him over the past week, you’d think we’d signed Messi or Ronaldo. This is a talented player who has blown every big opportunity given to him. After a coppa Italia game, you’re already talking about signing him?!?! Settle down.
Indeed, that is my point. He has a long record of wasting chances given to him. Always the same thing: he starts well and then fades away. There were much better options available to Milan, hence taking him was a mistake.
Kyle Walker is a proven winner, and there is good reason to believe that Gimenez and Bondo can give a boost to Milan. But Joao, he has disappointed many times. Who would get a hype about him apart from delusional fans.
It’s a 6 month loan. It’s no like we just spent 50+ million on him.
If it works then it could be a really important for our season.
Let’s face it. We need a miracle to reach 4th place in the remaining games.
I’m sure the player knows he is at a crossroad of his career. He’s knows what is going to be expected of him under Conceicao. Also he will have the extra motivation of having grown up as a Milan fan.
He came here on loan. Calm your t*ts down
People may call it harsh, but this is just a realistic take. Felix has lived out a suitcase for a reason. He won’t be able to coast like he’s done at barca and atleti while here, the fans and coach will demand better. This is likely his last chance at a top level team with wages he’s on, because clubs are wise to taking risks on luxury players now. Time will tell if he lives up to the challenge
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂😂 so many funny comments here about Felix, like seriously geez at atletico Madrid Simone never liked him at please, I watched him play Several times at Liga he was good in case you don’t know, Simone never liked it, go back to atletico Madrid Simone history he always has issues with player’s,he can’t control. Barcelona is shit club so forget about them, Chelsea geez is first stint there was good very very good the stupid Argentina coach Chelsea hired didn’t want to him. Second stint six months he has delivered for Christ sake. If you don’t watch soccer don’t talk shit about any players please. He just wants to play regular football. Relax and keep calm the dude will fly high in Milan and disappoint so many of you guy’s. Boneheaded dudes here
To be fair- Félix wasn’t a fit with Cholo- which begs the question why they paid 124 million for him. How many young guys perform relative to such an obscene price. It’s almost impossible to live up to those expectations. Particularly when considering fit and system within a team.
Félix then goes to Barca- a club that was in a bit of an identity crisis at that time. Xavi was struggling a bit- the team wasn’t consistent and they had a hard time nailing down their top 11. Dembele struggled there- Ferran Torres was struggling at the time. Even Raphina wasn’t lighting the world on fire.
Enter the very definition of a club burning like a dumpster fire, Chelsea and their ridiculous transfer game. Félix goes to another spot with terrible timing. Even on their good day Chelsea has been a place where attacking players not named Cole Palmer go to stall their careers.
Félix started out strongly (not withstanding his debut sending off) and he was probably Chelsea’s best looking attacker during his first loan. Puli couldn’t even get himself on the pitch during that time. Both Players certainly victims of the ridiculous circumstances at Stamford Bridge.
Félix is a tremendous talent- and came into the Pro game as a kid- not a full grown man.
Milan will he his first opportunity to fit into a side that really wanted him, with the right opportunity without the dramatic off pitch issues he had to deal with at Chelsea.
People had written off Christian Pulisic too much to their foolishness. We’d be wise to reserve any judgment of Félix until after we see him in the environment this team can support. I’d bet on Félix showing the world why he cost more than the GDP of an emerging nation as a 19 year old kid.
Can’t wait to see him and Pulisic play together and throw a collective middle finger to the fools that have written them off.
Forza Milan
Pulisic’s issues were injuries, nothing else.
It was more than just injuries. Tuchel changed lineups every game and chemistry was never allowed to develop. He had no management strategy other than throwing different crap against the wall every game and seeing if something would stick. He ruined the team. Pulisic (and many others) were the victims of his moronic approach.
This is just a dry loan and he just played one game so far. Calm down. History also written that so many good players not able to develop their talent in a wrong club and coach. We will see if Concecaio and AC Milan spell can bring his best or not. If not, simply return it to Chelsea. But admit it, its a good deal, having Felix calibre on loan for a test.
Forza Milan
Forza Felix
