Official: AC Milan vs. Como starting XIs – two changes from Lecce win

AC Milan will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins in Serie A against Como this evening at San Siro, to go into the international break the right way.

However, it won’t be easy against a dangerous opponent in Como, who seem to have gone up a gear this calendar year thanks to the exploits of Assane Diao as well as Nico Paz’s continued rise.

Cesc Fabregas would love a statement win at San Siro, amid links with taking over the Rossoneri. Sergio Conceicao meanwhile is aiming to keep alive the hopes of a European spot.

Official starting XIs

Milan have just one player out: Emerson Royal. Ruben Loftus-Cheek rejoined full training during the week and should sit on the bench, while Alessandro Florenzi returned to the match day squad for the Lecce game.

Conceicao has chosen to go with an unchanged rearguard of Mike Maignan in goal, Kyle Walker at right-back, Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw as the centre-backs and Theo Hernandez at left-back.

The three midfielders chosen are Warren Bondo, Yunus Musah and Tijjani Reijnders. It remains to be seen if the first two will form a double pivot with Reijnders ahead, or if it will be a different configuration.

The attack features Christian Pulisic back on the right side, with Rafael Leao coming in on the left after his impact off the bench in Lecce, and Santiago Gimenez leading the line.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Gabbia, Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Bondo, Musah; Pulisic, Reijnders, Leao; Gimenez.

  1. Conceicao pair Tomori and Pavlovic and beat Juve and inter to a Trophy… Now he hasn’t played Tomori in about 7matches if not more. i think the management want to cash in on him.

  2. Musah again! No creativity in that midfield for gaddamn sake! Musah is the new Krunic for blind Conceicao smh.
On other topic, anybody else watch how Fonseca that took over Lyon mid-season, destroy their opponent in the Europa league both home and away. No excuses, team was literally built before he came there and the players ain’t better than Milan players but he’s winning with them.
I’ll keep reiterating that firing that man was one of the craziest things this management has done and these fans has fomented.

  3. Milan playing counter attack futbol against Como at home! This is beyond ridiculous- it surely looks like they are not playing for this coach, there is zero effort, zero urgency, nothing. And now losing 1:0!

    1. That’s what some fans has been calling for – low block and going on the counter. I knew that would be frustrating for everyone. They say pressing football is too risky but that’s how every ambitious team plays. Milan simply can’t afford to intentionally give more time and space to teams. The first half was played as a small team. Also credit to Como’s intensity and mentality.

  4. I like how people are overlooking the fact that we are loosing more games without Tomori. People here spoke like gabbia is nesta just because he is Italian and from the youth ranks.

  5. Wow we finally get full weeks to train and it’s so clear to me now!!! This team sucks and conceicao is even worse!

  6. Midfield is weak. None of this is surprising. Can’t control anything. No real 6. No matter who you put in from Fofana, Musah, Bondo… same effect.

  7. We got dominated by como on our own turf smh..what was musah doing? He wasted 2 big chances! How can you expect gimenez to score with this kind of service, pure trash!

      1. True. Gabbia is not as good as talked about here. Tiji too. Good thing is that I don’t into the hyping around some players.

    1. That’s his human side acting on behalf of his countryman who’d been out for almost two years. What a sad way to return to action for Alli.
