Official: Inter beat Fiorentina in extra time to set up quarter-final meeting with Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will meet city rivals Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals later this month, it has been confirmed.

Milan got the job done from the penalty spot last night in the end as they beat Torino 5-4 in a shootout at San Siro on Tuesday night. Just like it did at this stage of last year’s competition, the game went to extra time as the Rossoneri were wasteful and failed to take any of their opportunities.

Despite this, Milan would score all five of their penalties in the shootout and it would be Rincon who would be the man to let Torino down as the Diavolo emerged victorious.

Inter beat Fiorentina 2-1 in extra time today and thus advance to the quarter-finals as well, where they will meet Milan. A new derby will be staged at San Siro on January 27, with the return Serie A fixture between the two clubs set for February 21.
