Official: Juventus vs. AC Milan starting XIs – three changes from Como win

AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao has named his starting line-up to face Juventus, and there are some forced changes from the Como win.

This will be the third meeting of the season between the two historic rivals, and the most recent one was Conceicao’s first game in charge, a comeback win in the Supecoppa Italiana semi-final.

Milan have some injury problems to contend with: Malick Thiaw and Christian Pulisic are out after issues sustained in midweek, and Alvaro Morata is suspended. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze and Alessandro Florenzi are also sidelined.

The official starting XIs

Conceicao has chosen to go with Matteo Gabbia as the replacement for the injured Thiaw. He will partner Fikayo Tomori, who continues to be linked with a move to Juve, while Emerson Royal and Theo Hernandez remain the full-backs.

Ismael Bennacer keeps his spot in the midfield double pivot alongside Youssouf Fofana. Tijjani Reijnders is in a more advanced role, flanked by Yunus Musah to the right and Rafael Leao to the left. Tammy Abraham leads the line in Morata’s absence.

  1. Let’s go boys! Someone should just stick that McKennie interview on the wall as motivation for the game. Also let’s hope our former players don’t punish us …as per usual

  2. Come on Coach Sergio, let’s make it happen Coach. First team in serie A to defeat JuVuck !
Ain’t nobody can express how excited we are, when we defeat Juve Di Merda! Let’s go bois.

  3. Not many options for us.
I’d imagine he is keeping Jimenez and Camarda in reserve to have some added dynamism in the 2nd half.
Its all on Rafa tonight really

  4. We’re not pressing much and 100% playing on the counter. Our only real outlet is Leao who is being double teamed and also having ball control issues, flashbacks to Pioli days. Juve is basically in a 3-4-3 in possession, and 5-2-3 out of possession, interesting.

    1. Not a lot of attacking options on the bench, but I agree and I think that we’ll see Jimenez on for Bennacer and transition to a 4-4-2, 15-20 min into the 2nd half.

Speaking of attacking options, where is Liberali? It’s interesting to see the differenxces in personal preferences of each coach. Fonseca preferred Gabbia-Thiaw, and you would see Liberali on the bench, and not really Zeroli. Now it’s Thiaw-Tomori and no Liberali, but then Zeroli and Omoregbe.

  5. That was so poor by Theo. Almost gave away a goal there. Can’t be dribbling out of the box like that. Tomori with the “Fiorentina” header again, his aerial weakness is being exploited here..

    1. Deflection and you’re blaming him ? A mistake any player can make ? He’s not the best player for sure but that goal wasn’t on him.

  6. It’s funny watching everybody blame everybody but the coach. Leao and Theo are back to their walking around selves and I honestly don’t know what our tactics is in this game. Where are all those people that were shouting at Fonseca ?

    1. You’re mixing up two completely unrelated things here. First of this is coach’s second or third game in Serie A. However we can still look at tactics or the lack thereof…that’s perfectly fine but it’s still early days even though this will count towards his overall as.sessment eventually. However hiring Fonseca knowing he was a complete failure before in Serie A is incompetence by the management. If they hired Conceicao first and he did badly then it was a punt that made sense at the time. But Fonseca NEVER EVER made any sense. That’s the difference

  7. Not sure there is a fix for this mess – what’s the point in bringing on strikers if you don’t pass to them? Leao and Theo super poor!

  8. What a car crash.

So many poor, poor players on our team.
Management have somehow managed to destroy a good young team in 2.5 years and waste a pile of money.

And yet Zlatan has the arrogance to parade around giving a speech in the dressing room after super copa. Its a f-cking joke

  9. If Emerson and tomori are in the starting lineup next week, I’m gonna lose hope I stg… absolutely nothing from them, Emerson offering nothing and constantly out of position, tomori literally doing nothing defensively and losing the ball then blaming his teammates for his poor decision making…ridiculous
