AC Milan have announced that defender Davide Calabria will be our for six weeks after undergoing an operation to remove a hernia.

There were some eyebrows raised when Calabria was not named among Roberto Mancini’s squad for the upcoming European Championships which start next month after a fantastic season for the right-back that saw him bounce back brilliantly following a difficult 2019-20 campaign.

Now, Milan have confirmed via their official website that Calabria underwent an operation on a sports hernia in Milan earlier today. The procedure was carries out via a video laparoscopy by Dr. Giuseppe Sansonetti in the presence of Rossoneri team doctor Lucio Genesio and went totally according to plan, as per the statement.

His recovery time is estimated to be 6 weeks, the club have confirmed, which all of a sudden makes the Euros ‘snub’ seem less like a technical choice and more one based on his fitness and recovery.
