Official: Pioli names 20-man squad for Liverpool game – Theo Hernandez present; Leao out

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has named his matchday squad for the final Champions League group stage game against Liverpool tonight.

You’d be forgiven for wondering if Milan will ever have a fully fit squad against as two new injuries mean the forward depth has been even further depleted, with Rafael Leao and Pietro Pellegri sustaining muscle problems that will keep them out.

In addition to the Portuguese winger and the Italian striker, Pioli will also be without Olivier Giroud, Samu Castillejo and Ante Rebic, while Davide Calabria is also stuck in the treatment room.

Below are the 20 players that Pioli has called up for the game as per the official website, with a striking lack of attacking depth available…

Goalkeepers: Jungdal, Maignan, Tătărușanu.

Defenders: Ballo-Touré, Florenzi, Gabbia, Hernández, Kalulu, Romagnoli, Tomori.

Midfielders: Bakayoko, Bennacer, Díaz, Kessie, Krunić, Messias, Saelemaekers, Tonali.

Forwards: Ibrahimović, Maldini.

  1. Milan’s forwards consist of someone in their 40s and the other is just in their 20s. Not normal for a club to have 2/3 of their attack out because of injury. Ibra will show his expertise, maybe Maldini can come in for some playing time if all goes well.

  2. Milan has problem in their medical staff. it was like that since Galiani left, so they should replace the whole crew as Barca did immediately once realized the issue
