AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has fielded an interesting starting XI for today’s game against Serie D side Lumezzane at Milanello.
Milan get their winter friendlies underway this afternoon at the training complex and while a number of players are either away on international duty or enjoying some post World Cup vacation, Pioli has been left with a few forced selection choices.
Tatarusanu is in goal with a back three of Bakoune, Gabbia and Tomori ahead of him. Adli and Krunic are down as wing-backs in the 3-5-2 system with Pobega, Tonali and Vranckx in the midfield. Rebic and Origi complete the XI.
Coubis was meant to start in the back three but felt an issue in the warm up so Bakoune stepped in.
Official Milan XI (3-5-2): Tatarusanu; Bakoune, Gabbia, Tomori; Adli, Pobega, Tonali, Vranckx, Krunic; Rebic, Origi.
Official Lumezzane XI: Pisoni, Tomas, Calì, Alessandro, Spini, Fish, Parodi, Poledri, Parravicini, Tortellim Regazzetti.

Adli as wingback is dumb. Put him in the midfield 3 please.
3-5-2. He’s playing midfield
In a 3-man defence, the wide midfielders are wingbacks. Hence the article title.
Zoro Caloro, the genius coach who train Adli and bring scudetto and champions league trophy to Milan.
Super weird. Pioli didn’t see Adli as anything but AM (although he played deeper sometimes at Bordeaux), but now he’s being played as a wingback. Weird.
We need to promote Bakoune to the first team instead of Dest. Cheaper and better. Will help with homegrown list.
