Official: Napoli vs. AC Milan starting XIs – Calhanoglu back into the XI; no Leao or Saelemaekers

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has made two changes to the starting XI from Tuesday’s win over Juventus for Sunday’s clash with Napoli.

It is the same back five and midfield for the Rossoneri, as Gianluigi Donnarumma is protected by Andrea Conti, Simon Kjaer, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez with Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie the anchormen.

Ahead of the African duo, there is Lucas Paqueta wide right as Samu Castillejo continues his recovery from a hamstring issue, while Ante Rebic and Hakan Calhanoglu complete the trident supporting Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front.

Pioli will not be able to call upon injured centre-back duo Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte once again as they continue their respective recoveries, with Antonio Donnarumma also misses out through injury.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Conti, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Rebic, Calhanoglu; Ibrahimovic.

It is a familiar 4-3-3 system for Gennaro Gattuso’s side, with the headline being that the tried and tested forward trio of Jose Callejon, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne gets the nod.

Official Napoli XI (4-3-3): Ospina; Di Lorenzo, Maksimovic, Koulibaly, Mario Rui; Fabian Ruiz, Lobotka, Zielinski; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne.
