Official: No Achilles tendon damage for Ibrahimovic – new tests in 10 days time

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not suffered any damage to his Achilles tendon and that he has a calf issue.

Ibrahimovic sustained the injury during Monday’s training session after he is believed to have overstretched when attempting to reach a throw-in.

Some outlets speculated that it is an Achilles tendon problem which would require a long time out, but Vito Angele informed us it is a calf issue but will likely keep him out for the rest of the season.

An official statement on the club’s website has confirmed, that Ibrahimovic sustained an injury to his right soleus (calf) muscle during yesterday’s training session.

The Achilles tendon however is perfectly intact, ruling out a seriously long absence, but the player will undergo another scan in ten days time.

Attention now turns to how Milan boss Stefano Pioli will cope without a target man. Calciomercato.com are claiming that he will move Rafael Leao to centre-forward and change system again.
