Official: Pairetto will officiate Bologna-Milan – the precedents for both teams

By Oliver Fisher -

Luca Pairetto has been designated as the referee for the season opener that AC Milan will play at Bologna on Monday evening at the Stadio Renato dall’Ara on Monday night.

The AIA have confirmed the appointments for round one of the season and have given Bologna-Milan to Pairetto. To assist the Turin-born official will be Berti and Cipressa as lisemen, the fourth official will be Volpi while in the VAR booth will be Marini and Maggioni.

Pairetto has taken charge of eight Rossoneri games before and the precedents are good, with no defeats in that sample size, six of them being wins and two draws against Sassuolo (2018) and Cremonese (1-1 last season).

There are 15 games in which Pairetto has refereed Bologna with eight wins for the Rossoblu, three draws and four defeats, so both teams will be quite happy with the appointment if believing in superstition.
