Official: Pioli names 20-man squad for Shamrock trip – exit rumours fuelled as Paqueta is out

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has named his squad for Thursday’s Europa League second qualifying round game against Shamrock Rovers.

The Rossoneri leave for the Irish capital on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the game at Tallaght Stadium tomorrow, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 CEST.

Before departing, Pioli named his 20-man squad for the game, and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic made the list as expected after recovering from a bruised leg which kept him out of the last two preseason games.

However, interestingly there was no room at all for Lucas Paqueta, a surprise given that wingers Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic will miss the game due to injury and suspension respectively.

This of course fuels rumours that his exit is imminent, with Lyon the most strongly linked team at the time of writing. Anto Vitiello confirms that Paqueta was left out due to ‘technical choice’ rather than injury.

Below are the players called up by Pioli…

GOALKEEPERS
A. Donnarumma, G. Donnarumma, Tătărușanu.

DEFENDERS
Calabria, Duarte, Gabbia, Hernández, Kjær, Laxalt.

MIDFIELDERS
Bennacer, Çalhanoğlu, Díaz, Kessie, Krunić, Saelemaekers, Tonali.

FORWARDS
Castillejo, Colombo, Ibrahimović, Maldini.
