Official: Pioli names 22-man squad for Bologna trio – Calhanoglu doesn’t make the cut

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has named his 22-man squad for Saturday’s trip to the Stadio Renato dall’Ara to face Bologna.

Milan will be looking to rebound from back-to-back defeats as they were thoroughly outplayed in their last Serie A encounter, losing 3-0 to Atalanta last weekend, and were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in midweek in a game full of controversy and drama.

Pioli will have to come up with some fixes for his attacking department as Brahim Diaz is injured, while Simon Kjaer is also out with a muscle problem. The good news is that Mario Mandzukic, Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer will return from injury.

Hakan Calhanoglu tested negative for Coronavirus on Friday, but has not quite returned in time to make the squad. Below are the 22 players called up by Pioli for the game, as confirmed by the club’s official website

Goalkeepers: A. Donnarumma, G. Donnarumma, Tătărușanu.

Defenders: Calabria, Dalot, Hernández, Kalulu, Romagnoli, Tomori.

Midfielders: Bennacer, Castillejo, Hauge, Kessie, Krunić, Meïte, Saelemaekers, Tonali.

Forwards: Ibrahimović, Leão, Maldini, Mandžukić, Rebić.
