Official: Pioli names 22-man squad for Cagliari – Two players left out amid exit rumours

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has named his official 22-man squad for Saturday’s trip to Sardegna to face Cagliari.

The Rossoneri face the trip this weekend to a historically happy hunting ground to face a team currently sat in the final European spot, seven points ahead at present.

Milan have lost just once in their last 31 competitive games against Cagliari, and will be looking to put the frustrations of Monday’s goalless draw against Sampdoria behind them.

Pioli has called up 22 players for the game at the Sardegna Arena, with Lucas Biglia and Leo Duarte absent as expected with both recovering from injuries.

Centre-back Mattia Caldara has been left out amid reports he is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a return to Atalanta, while Ricardo Rodriguez is also missing as exit rumours continue to swirl.

Fabio Borini is set to be confirmed as a new Hellas Verona player later on Friday which explains his absence, but Ante Rebic is back in the fold having been left out against Samp.

Pepe Reina also makes the cut despite confirmations from his agent that there is a deal being worked on which would see the veteran goalkeeper join Aston Villa.
