Official: Pioli names 23-man squad for Sampdoria – Three players left out amid exit links

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has named his squad for the game against Sampdoria at San Siro on Monday, with three notable exclusions.

The Rossoneri will be looking to kick off the new decade in the right way and put memories of their 5-0 defeat to Atalanta in round 17 firmly behind them.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named in the squad as expected, but the real headline comes from the fact that Ricardo Rodriguez, Fabio Borini and Ante Rebic are all missing.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews.it) recently reported that PSV have ‘accelerated’ their pursuit of Rodriguez, with talks between Milan, the Dutch club and the entourage of the full-back continuing.

Meanwhile, forward Borini looks set to leave the Rossoneri after two-and-a-half years at the club, with work underway to agree a deal that would see him join Genoa (as per Calciomercato.com).

Meanwhile, Calciomercato.com reported on Saturday that Rebic’s entourage are at work to take him back to Eintracht Frankfurt, with an agreement just ‘details away’, though this was seemingly denied by their sporting director Fredi Bobic.
