Official: Pioli names 23-man squad for Sampdoria game – the reason Bennacer is absent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has named his 23-man squad to face Sampdoria in Sunday night’s game at the Marassi, with a notable absentee.

Following the wins against Celtic mid-week and Fiorentina at the weekend, Milan will be looking to add another three points to their tally on Sunday evening. Still in first place, they want it to stay that way.

Stefano Pioli, who has now recovered from COVID-19, is ready to lead his team for the second consecutive game. Although Daniele Bonera did a good job as temporary head coach, it’s nice to see the boss back on the sidelines.

Below is the squad selected by Pioli for the game, with Daniele Longo among others reporting that Bennacer has been left out as a precaution due to muscle fatigue.

Goalkeepers: A. Donnarumma, G. Donnarumma, Tătărușanu.

Defenders: Calabria, Conti, Dalot, Duarte, Gabbia, Hernández, Kalulu, Romagnoli.

Midfielders: Çalhanoğlu, Castillejo, Díaz, Hauge, Kessie, Krunić, Mionić, Saelemaekers, Tonali.

Forwards: Colombo, Maldini, Rebić.

  1. Oh! No….we need everyone fit in the Ac. Milan squad to go far and why not win the Scudetto. We need Bennacer in midfield. He is guaranteed force.
    Get well Bennacer.
