Official: Spezia vs. AC Milan starting XIs – Pioli rotates the attack

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has chosen to rotate the attack for the game against Spezia with the second leg against Inter in sight.

Mike Maignan keeps his spot in goal just as Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez will be part of the back four, joined by Pierre Kalulu who has taken the spot of Davide Calabria at right-back.

The injuries sustained by Ismael Bennacer and Rade Krunic mean that Sandro Tonali will have to work overtime and he will be partnered by Tommaso Pobega.

Alexis Saelemaekers moves back to the right after filling in on the left on Wednesday, with Brahim Diaz as the playmaker and Divock Origi the left winger supporting Ante Rebic leading the line.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Pobega; Saelemaekers, Brahim, Origi; Rebic.

Bench: Mirante, Tătăruşanu; Ballo-Touré, Calabria, Gabbia; Adli, Bakayoko, Vranckx; De Ketelaere, Giroud.

Official Spezia XI (4-3-3): Drągowski; Amian, Ampadu, Wiśniewski, Nikolaou; Esposito, Ekdal, Bourabia; Reca, Nzola, Gyasi.

    1. Against a physical team, CDK instead of Diaz.
If I were to take a drink every time he falls down and turns tonthe ref, I’d get drunk enough to forget the first half against Inter.

    1. Also, note the forced inclusion of Kjaer due to Thiaw’s suspension. Does this mean he will sit the 2nd leg against Inter and Thiaw will be given the start?

  1. Krunic’s absence will be felt , he is the kind of muscle we need to dictate to the opposition. Rebic will be fine, strong and effective on the initial opposition counter attack as well. We need to establish physicality early. Kalulu on right with his speed will help as well.

  2. Almost half time and there has been nothing from this team. We are headed towards another draw or sucker punch loss.

  3. what a boring match..our wingers are useless and we only have a tired giroud, lack of game time adli and non existent CDK on the bench for the attack smh..

  4. hard to support a team like this, 90min amateur football, will not waste my time that stupid. No clue what has happend in year 2023 but there must be noobs around.

  5. Lol Fire Pioli. Thank god I didn’t waste my time watching this nonsense, in one season we went from champions back to banter era, who knows if Leao, Tomoroi, Maignan, Theo are going to stick around when the EPL and PSG/Bayern come knocking. What a completely deserved and avoidable catastrophe.

  6. Sweet! let me see what will happen at the end of this season. So sorry for Maldini because his job is on the line… Pioli has been struggling this season to perform. He makes some a few wins amidst his struggles and the club decides to renew his contract, instead of keeping him on his toes. Nuts!!!

  7. I discussed this with the managers and they are not sure what everyone thinks. But for now we wait and see what comes of the matchday. We have given it all our all.
