Journalist Franco Ordine has suggested that big problems will soon come regarding Rafael Leao’s situation and who represents him.
Leao is attracting a lot of speculation given he was one of the protagonists of the Scudetto win last season and of the Rossoneri’s positive start to the current season too, given he hit double figures in goals and assists in 2021-22 and is on course to do the same this time around.

The winger’s contract expires in June 2024 and that means by the end of the current season he would have just one year left on his deal, so the management are at work to renew his contract while the rumours of interest from top clubs abroad continues to mount.
Ordine expressed his opinion on the matter as the well-known sports journalist spoke on Andrea Longoni’s YouTube channel about how things are at this moment in time, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan.
“Why do we continue to say that it is a very complex negotiation? Because the situation is as follows. Officially at this moment Leao’s signature has been given to the Parisian lawyer Dimvula, chosen by father Antonio. This signature expires in 2024 is considered void by Jorge Mendes, Leao ‘s previous attorney,” he began.
“Should Leao’s family sign a new contract with the Parisian lawyer’s exclusive power of attorney, Jorge Mendes would turn to the judicial authority to declare that signature illegitimate and therefore that contract invalid.”

In contract law, a signature to a contract is considered void where there is no offer, acceptance and consideration of the parties involved. I’m guessing his previous agent is arguing that since Leao’s signature is given to the current agent/lawyer, it doesn’t meet requirements. Either Leao didn’t have intention, either giving the signature was unlawful consideration, either Leao was underage at time of giving signature, either it was outside the scope of the contract when signature given, or any other reason that can be show was what happened to indicate a factor not essential to honoring the contract. If that is the case, then Leao’s old agent can bring the court into this, as that is what is meant by judicial authority. Implications of this, is the current agent may no longer be recognized as the agent if these allegations can be put forth. What this means for Milan, is Leao at the time of renewal of his AC Milan contract, cannot sign his contract (and this excludes the fact that he will sign, or the fact that there may be negotiations happening). So essentially, what it all means for AC Milan, is a risk of not finalizing a renewal within the desired time period, unless of course, AC Milan and Leao can form some sort of gentleman agreement that throughout this period, Leao will not accept any offers and will renew. From what I see, it’s about Leao’s personal intention to play with the club or not. We’ve seen how players like Kessie said they would renew but never did. We’ve seen how players like Donnarumma chose to leave. It is up to the individual’s intention in the contract at this point, the lawyers and agents NEVER do anything that the principle (ie. player) does not say, because the lawyer/agent ALWAYS acts upon the instruction of their client (ie. player).
Excellent analysis. HOWEVER.. Maldini and Massara should have given the 7.5 mn + dispute fee with lille he asked for when we won the serie A. Now Maldini and Massara have to pay for transfer fee + Salary + agent commission.
At the end they try pushing their luck and now got burnt by doing so.
I hate their hands on dealing on this
Milan should have done nothing? Negotiate with who? Ask the question, why would leao change his agent when a contract renewal is pending? I think its intentional from.his father, and let no one tell me it was done behind his back. Thats b.s

Funny because Mendes himself didn’t respect the signature Leao had penned in the Sportin Lisbon contract… Oh the hypocrisy. 😀 😀 😀
Did anyone see the other side of the coin….this looks like a set up to drag the negotiations by creating infighting between leao camp so he would get near to his contract and off he goes like Donna and others…..I mean its stupidity written all over it
Looks like this with each passing day. Looks like calculated, synchronized confusion!!
He was never going to sign the extension anyway. Look how he/they respected the contract with Sporting Lisbon. They only care about money.
He left sporting because the ultras entered the training ground and threatened players and staff not because he didn’t respect the contract. He was in an unsafe work environment
I know that. But it’s not a valid reason to unilaterally break a binding contract. As clearly EVERY court has so far judged.
