GdS: Origi chooses to leave Liverpool for Milan – the background and the figures

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to welcome Divock Origi as their first summer signing from Liverpool on a free transfer, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the main driving force behind the completion of the agreement was the will of Origi himself to try a new experience in a new country and hopefully to be more of a protagonist than he was under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The Belgian wants to seize the opportunity to play for another club rich in history like Milan that would put him at the centre of their attack, while the Growth Decree also plays the part of giving a discount to the Rossoneri.

It is expected that the deal will close at €3.5m per season for four years and therefore the gross cost for the club will be no more than €5.5m.

Despite being 26 years of age, Origi can already boast a lot o experience having won major honours, such as the Champions League in 2018-19 when he scored a brace against Barcelona in the semi-final comeback and then netted the second in the 2-0 win over Spurs in the final.
