CM: Orsato chosen to referee Milan vs. Juventus – worrying record and a bad precedent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s anger after Marco Serra’s refereeing performance on Monday night may have only just subsided, but the news that Daniele Orsato will be in change for Sunday’s game against Juventus is not exactly welcome.

Calciomercato.com confirms that Orsato will be in charge of what is a big game for both clubs and there is curious statistic regarding him: Milan have never won a big match refereed by Orsato – i.e. a game against traditional rivals for the top four – with 6 defeats and 5 draws.

In Milan’s games against Juve in which Orsato was referee the slate reads 3 draws and 1 defeat, against Inter 1 draw and 1 defeat, against Roma 1 draw and 1 defeat, against Napoli 1 draw
and against 1 draw and 1 defeat.

The 3-0 defeat versus Lazio at the Olimpico last season was certainly the most worrying precedent, as an evident foul by Lucas Leiva on Calhanoglu to before Correa scored to make it 2-0 caused a lot of anger. He was called over by the VAR cief Mazzoleni, but decided to confirm the decision on the field.

  1. Then the players should never be wasteful at goals and be careful while dealing with the opposite side on Sunday..best of luck boys

  2. Yup just like i said that Milan will get shitty referee again for Juve & Inter. Prepare for another Muntari and Messias “accident”.

This isn’t a coincidence, not by a long shot and we all knew who’s behind this crap 🙁

  3. maybe just the opposite, sort a “make up call” to further legitimize their fraternity. But once again it seems like we start the game one man down, AC Milan 11 versus Juve 11 plus the ref.
