Owner reveals how Ibrahimovic rejected January move to Leeds in favour of Milan return

By Oliver Fisher -

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has revealed how Zlatan Ibrahimovic chose to return to AC Milan rather than join the Yorkshire club in January.

The Championship clubs were in desperate need of a striker during the most recent transfer window as forward Eddie Nketiah was recalled from his loan spell by Arsenal.

In the end Frenchman Jean-Kevin Augustin arrived on loan, but he was a disappointment in truth, though it didn’t matter as Leeds won the league to finally secure a return to the top flight.

The chairman of Leeds – Andrea Radrizzani – spoke to Sky Sports to celebrate promotion to the Premier League, and gave some background on his side’s pursuit of the Swede.

“Ibra is definitely a difficult player to reach. We tried in January, but then he chose to return to Milan. The idea then vanished and now I think it’s too late now,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

Meanwhile, there is an abundance of speculation in the media suggesting that Ibrahimovic will leave Milan at the end of the season, bringing to an end his second spell at the club after just 8 months due to disagreements about how to move forward.
