AC Milan only just got past Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday evening, and Paulo Fonseca was not happy with several things, to the point where he may not continue, according to a journalist.
The current situation between Milan and Fonseca is bleak, and the more time passes, it looks like the problems are growing. On Friday, he accused the officials of effectively going against the Rossoneri, and then last night he stated that players are frustrating him whilst threatening action.
Reports are suggesting that the club are now leaving him ‘alone’ and perhaps, this is the first step in something which he is hoping for, an exit.
Speaking to Sportitalia, Alfredo Pedulla analysed Fonseca’s statements, and he believes that there is a clear message being given by the Portuguese, and his theory has been relayed by Milan News.
“Milan have always defended him, but there was a not-so-distant moment when they thought of Sarri, but then this did not go ahead even though there had been contacts that Milan clearly deny. The Rossoneri have always denied certain rumours.
“If Fonseca says these phrases [the ones last night] there are two roads: either he wants to resign or he is doing everything to get himself exonerated. I don’t have any other interpretation, these are statements of an enormous heaviness…”
With suggestions that the club have been in contact with other coaches, maybe an exit may not be far away.
He isn’t gonna quit. No severance that way.
And the club is 2 cheap 2 fire him. Unless we go down a losing streak, I don’t see it happening.
Plus if they fire him, they should be all be replaced. They the ones who hired him to being with..and scouted and signed majority of the bums we have
The reason he is on a cheap contract is so that if you can him it won’t hurt too much. It’s a short contract too.
POR FAVOR!!!! ESE REGALÓ DE NAVIDAD!!! POR FAVOR!!! DE RODILLAS TE PIDO!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Y PARA LOS Q DICEN QUIEN? TERCIZ, SARRI, CONCEICAO HASTA ALEGRII. LA DIFERENCIA DEL MEDIOCRE (FONSECA) SON CAMPEONES!!!!! DE LIGAS Y COPAS IMPORTANTES no campeón de Ucrania (FONSECA!!!) FOOOORZAAAAA MILAN!!
There are bad takes, then there’s this….
Pedulla doesn’t know $hit.
The fact that he’s name dropping Sarri proves it.
If They had to let go of Fonseca, Ibra’s first choice coach to replace him would be Igor Tudor.
No one knows sh*t. That’s why everything is throwing sh*t to the wall to see what sticks. Welcome to modern journalism and the 2mn attention span that comes with it.
This is the most truth on this page
Facts!!!!
Ibra’s first choice would be Ibra.
I supported fonseca. These milan players are not playing well.Thumbs up for the courage u have to speak out. These players need to be sold:calabria,theo,musa,loftus-cheek.
You’re right and with them Emerson Royal
Only Terzic.
We need a coach with strategics, smart and brave. Plus, he’s good with young players and can develop our Futuro to monsters.
Disappointed from Zlatan for not bringing him in the first place
Terzic was hated by his own fans…
Fifa boy
you really like to bully people eh?! grow up dude..
Fifa boy simp
Sergio Conceicao or maybe Mark van Bommel. Too bad our ownership also fumbled Ignazio Abate. He could have had Futuro much higher up in the table and could have been a good in-house solution, at least until the end of the season, if Fonsece leaves. Oh well.
Why are people calling for Conceicao. He plays 442 or 4231 and with two defensive pivots in the middle.
He’d be a good choice if this team was built for these two systems. But it’s not.
Van Bommel is an interesting profile but inexperienced in Italy.
I’ve given you facts this summer – the last foreign coach that won something in Italy is Mourinho with Inter from 2008 to 2010. Before him it was Sven-Göran Eriksson in season 99/00.
Sarri. DM. 433. Let’s go.
Coaches can change their lineups. Just look at Conte who always used a 3-5-2 but who is using right now a 4-3-3 (and even used a 4-2-3-1).
This team is pretty much not built for anything, we’re missing players for either a 4-2-3-1, a 4-4-2, a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3 but we’re closer to a 4-3-3 than anything else.
But the thing that Conceição has that neither Lopetegui nor Fonseca had is winning many titles with Porto, good experience in the UCL, had his team punch above its weight and probably a good winning mentality. It was under him that Luis Diaz was brought to light and finally caught Liverpool’s interest. I also do remember our 2 games against his Porto in 2021/22 where we looked really bad.
He is also good at both phases (offensive and defensive) and is good with transitions.
You mention Sarri, but Sarri is a possession type coach, we don’t have players for a possession style. Leao, Pulisic, Theo, Reijnders and Morata thrive in counters and in fact our best wins came when we used a counter attacking style (under Fonseca and under Pioli). Also add to the fact that Sarri might be becoming too old to reproduce his former successes.
So in the end, I don’t think any coach is ideal given how much our team is unbalanced, I do think Conceição is one of the best names that were proposed and I do think Fonseca is one of the worst, and so far he is proving to be a terrible coach.
