Journalist Carlo Pellegatti has spoken about the centre-forward issue that the AC Milan management are jostling with as we enter the final two weeks of the window.
Milan have found themselves in a situation where they currently only have Olivier Giroud and Lorenzo Colombo as natural strikers in the team, with Noah Okafor more of a false nine/left wing profile.
However, there continues to be widespread reports suggesting that Colombo could be sent out on loan for another season and the information we have is that the player is pushing for that because he wants consistent playing time.
The well-known journalist Pellegatti has published his usual weekly column on MilanNews providing some Ferragosto reflections, starting with what the future holds for the 21-year-old Primavera graduate.
“By Thursday or Friday, together with Colombo, the managers will decide the boy’s future. In any case, I like Lorenzo more and more. It is clear that it would be a risk to rely on him, especially in the Champions League,” he began.
“However, he also seems good at meeting his team-mates, to open up spaces. A quality much appreciated by Pioli. His goal against Novara is a masterpiece of ballistics and strength.
“I’m not so sure Ekitike is better than a striker already with good Serie A experience.”
Pellegatti report that the ‘crazy idea’ of Lukaku turning his back on the Nerazzurri and Bianconeri to move to Milan is something that could be achievable given the relations between Gerry Cardinale and Todd Boehly. He touched on it again.
“Lukaku? It is certainly a nice summer suggestion. To paraphrase William Shakespeare, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream!’ A dream for many, but Lukaku’s figure is divisive. Many don’t want him, judging the man more than the player.
“I remember the criticisms of Adriano Galliani when he signed Pippo Inzaghi by selling Zenoni to Juventus. At the first goal, everything passes! Let’s see how we are in the days of the… Condor.
“Maybe Giorgio Furlani disguises himself as Robert Redford, and accompanied by the splendid soundtrack by Dave Grusin, makes a splash! It depends a lot, I repeat, on Lukaku’s situation as well.
“If the Belgian were still free, if Milan didn’t yet have the centre-forward, given the relationship with Chelsea, something sensational could happen. However, I’m not sure how to overcome the obstacle of salary.”
