Pellegatti urges RedBird to act quickly regarding Leao and makes Mbappe comparison

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti has called upon AC Milan’s probable new owners to make the renewal of Rafael Leao their first big statement.

Leao was absolutely unplayable on Sunday in 3-0 win over Sassuolo that wrapped up the Scudetto as he contributed three assists in the first half, setting up Olivier Giroud twice for a near post finish on both occasions and then squaring for Franck Kessie to add a third.

That means that he ended the season with 11 league goals and 10 assists, the famous double-double, and now there must be attention on extending his contractual deadline beyond the current expiry of 2024 especially amid the rumours of interest from some top clubs abroad.

Pellegatti spoke on his YouTube channel about the renewal of Leao and even made a comparison with PSG star Kylian Mbappe, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“In the next few days, I think the beginning of next week, there will be a change of ownership and Milan will pass to the Americans of RedBird. 20% of the club will remain in Elliott’s hands,” he began.

“Beyond this, I hope, as a first move for the new owners, that Rafael Leao’s contract will be renewed until 2027. This would be the biggest signing Milan can make this summer. I was critical of Leao when he played loose games because I saw quality in him. Today Leao does not stop.

“There is a chance that some offers will arrive, but I would go to the player immediately and as a first move I would tell the Milan fans that Leao can stay with us until 2027. Currently, like Leao, there is only Mbappé, and I assure you that I know English football well enough. He is overflowing, devastating, unstoppable with those ideas.”
