Pellegatti: Torino star not a ‘priority’ for Milan unless another move happens first

By Oliver Fisher -

Carlo Pellegatti believes that AC Milan will only turn their attentions towards a concrete move for Alessandro Buongiorno in the event a player leaves.

There is a lot of talk about the centre-forward that Milan will sign but among the priorities of the management is also the arrival of a new central defender given just how bad the team were defensively in 2023-24.

Geoffrey Moncada and his collaborators are apparently searching for a player who can come in and start straight away, most likely next to Fikayo Tomori. Buongiorno – the captain of Torino – is a player that has been frequently linked, having tried for him during the January window too.

The well-known journalist and Pellegatti spoke to TV Play about the possible moves by the AC Milan management in the defensive department, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

“Buongiorno is very good, but I don’t think he’s a priority for Milan, apart from if an offer for Thiaw comes in. Only in that case will things be reviewed. But I think that the real dream of Cairo and the player is the arrival of an offer from the Premier League,” he said.

There are also other teams like Inter and Napoli that are keen on signing the Italian, as well as some teams in the Premier League like Spurs.

  1. If I were them I would spend the money on buying a quality DM, instead of spending some of it on a CB when there are several CBs already in the team + Simic.

      1. Bro we don’t even have a single DM. Why not start with getting a player where we have zero players before we worry about upgrading

        1. I agree but even if we had 50 mil that’s enough for a cdm and a cb With the sale of one, our current ones, not even factoring any other sales

  2. I think that we need a quality signing however the next coach has to drill discipline in the defense. Milan lack discipline defensively. That’s why I was hoping the Porto coach would come or Conte. I feel Mou 2010, and Spalleti are great at adding discipline. De Rossi seem to have that Characteristics but it’s early to say.

  3. We have three quality CBs (Tomori, Gabbia, Thiaw) and two decent backups (Kalulu, Simic), who all just need the protection of a defensive midfielder

Accepting the obvious (and probably well timed) loss of Kjear, if we go into next year with this same defence I won’t be worried. All good players who have been completely exposed by the midfield for 2 years now.

    1. None of those CBs are good. We lost a lot of points due to their childish mistakes.

I can agree that they were exposed by the midfield from now and then, but they were also poor in decision making, sloppy tackles, really bad positioning, etc.

So, a new CB is a must.

  4. Bring in Alessandro Buongiorno upgrade of Tomori I would him to partner Malick Thiaw and sell this nothing to offer again players out Kalulu,Pobega,Sportiello,Florenzi,Gabbia,Tomori and Jovic.
