AC Milan are in the market for a new central defender ahead of the summer window and they have a ‘dream’ name in mind, according to a report.
As this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes, there is a lot of talk about the centre-forward that Milan will sign but among the priorities of the management is also the arrival of a new central defender.
Not only that, but Geoffrey Moncada and his team are searching for a player who can come in and start. Alessandro Buongiorno – the captain of Torino – is the dream that they have in mind, having tried for him during the January window too.
However, there are also other teams like Inter and Napoli that are keen on signing the Italian, and the latter might have a big budget given that the sale of Victor Osimhen seems to be a certainty at this stage.
The paper goes on to state that Jakub Kiwior could be an alternative name to keep an eye on. The Arsenal defender was previously a target for the Rossoneri when he played for Spezia but he decided to move to the Premier League.
He has not nailed down a starting spot with the Gunners and thus there might be more willingness from all parties to discuss a move back to Serie A for the Poland international.
I’ll be fine with either. Honestly I’d give some edge to Kiwior because of his versatility. Alessandro only played in a 3 man def so far. He seems to have enough quality for a back 4 but you never know 100%
I’d perfer Buongiorno. Not only because he’s Italian and a ready Serie A player but we need players with leader character and experience.

Since Tonali’s departure we have lacked this important element, in fact I hope we get a midfielder with these characteristics as well.

Buongiorno is really strong and likes bullying the opponents and si not afraid to get physical, unfortunately we don’t have this at the moment with the our current CBs, they seem a bit fragile

Calafiori seems to me to be the best Serie A CB after Bastoni.
Calafiori is more of a LB, but he plays as a CB too in Bologna.
