Pietro Pellegri of AC Milan

Pellegri admits time at Milan was ‘educational’ despite previous regret admission

Pietro Pellegri has previously admitted his AC Milan move was a mistake, however, he still believes that the move helped him to learn.

In the summer of 2021, Milan took Pellegri on loan with the option of making the deal permanent after showing signs of potential earlier in his career. However, the move never got off the ground, and unsurprisingly the Rossoneri did not take the option of making the move permanent, instead cancelling the loan in January after he made just six appearances.

In the years since, the striker has failed to follow the path that was initially hoped for him, and goals have been difficult to come by, nevertheless, he hopes to find his name on the scoresheet when the Rossoneri face Empoli.

Speaking to Il Tirreno, the striker spoke about his move to Milan and how he benefitted from it and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“[Watching Ibrahimovic and Giroud] was very educational. I saw every day how certain champions work and the Rossoneri are at the top at all levels. And on Saturday I’ll obviously try to score again and castigate them.”

Given he has previously admitted the move to the Diavolo was a mistake, questions must be asked if the education he gained lessened the regret.

  1. What ? that snippet was part of the original interview as well.

He should nevertheless have stayed with Genoa instead of joining Monaco to begin with. He played there at an young age and would have developed far better with more minutes played which he more easily could have been able to do there. In fact he is only now starting to be able to muster a scoring ratio pr. match as he did at the age of 16 and that is roughly 7 years ago.
