MN: Pellegri could get first start against Salernitana – a chance for redemption

By Oliver Fisher -

There could be a new opportunity for Pietro Pellegri to impress as he might get his first start of the season on Saturday against Salernitana.

MilanNews reports that Pellegri – in a week that has been dominated by the possibility of his loan being ended early due to a lack of playing time – could get a new chance against Salernitana having come off the bench in the second half against Genoa in midweek.

The 21-year-old striker arrived from Monaco in the summer and has not yet shown his potential both because he is behind Ibrahimovic and Giroud in the pecking order and because he has not had a lot of minutes due to injuries. Milan and Pioli believe in the player, and he could start tomorrow.

Ibrahimovic needs to rest in view of the Champions League match against Liverpool and Pellegri is the most suitable candidate to replace him in the line-up. The game against Salernitana could not only be an opportunity for redemption but also hopefully the start of a positive run, like Junior Messias is experiencing.
