Photos prove team manager was receiving orders from Pioli on the phone during Napoli-Milan

It was a strange evening for AC Milan’s coaching staff on Sunday, as they were without head coach Stefano Pioli and his assistant Giacomo Murelli.

That meant that Daniele Bonera had to step up and be the stand-in head coach, and he was assisted by his colleague Andrea Romeo. As highlighted by MilanNews, the Milan team manager was on the phone to Pioli for the whole match and was the line between Pioli – at home in front of the television – the entire staff, and Bonera.

Decisions were made on substitutions and on the interpretation of different game situations, despite Bonera suggesting that he would be allowed to control everything.
