Tuttosport: Pioli attends basketball game in mission to improve his tactical approach at Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Despite the fact there is a break for the World Cup currently ongoing, Stefano Pioli is continuing to work hard on improving his team and his methods.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) updates readers on the ‘non-holidays’ taken by Pioli who is preparing to meet up with the squad again for the mid-season warm weather training retreat in Dubai, with their departure for the Middle East set for early December.

Pioli is continuing to work on himself and his methods on a tactical level and he has actually turned to a different sport for inspiration. The Rossoneri boss attended the Euroleague match (basketball) between Virtus Bologna and the Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Some time ago, the Milan head coach declared: “I am a lover of high-level sports of any kind. You can take something on a motivational basis or a technical one. I tried to bring something from basketball onto dead balls.”

Milan have had their struggles when it comes to set pieces as they seem to have found dead balls both tough to score from and to keep out, so a helping hand could come from Bologna’s basketball team.
