Stefano Pioli is studying the potential role that Tommaso Pobega could have in his plans while waiting for news on Renato Sanches, a report claims.
Calciomercato.com report how Pobega returned after a second loan spell in Serie A – this time at Torino after a previous season at Spezia – and the Rossoneri management have decided to consider him part of the squad for next season.

Three years of constant growth have seen the 23-year-old become a real asset to the Rossoneri, as seen by the 10 goals and 6 assists in 53 Serie A matches he has thus far during his two loan spells.
The first few days of training and the friendlies that Milan will play from now to the start of the season can be decisive in proving that he is ready, and the start against FC Köln on Saturday shows that Pioli values him.
However, it is no secret that Milan want to sign Renato Sanches as the replacement to Franck Kessie, but the Portugal international has not yet given his definitive answer amid interest from PSG.
The Rossoneri already have an agreement with Lille at €10m plus bonuses and they had also found an agreement on Sanches’ contract, before his entourage – led by Jorge Mendes – changed their demands to €4.5m net per season.
Time passes and Milan remains confident that the negotiation will be successful, but in the meantime Pioli is studying how to use Pobega and he could be more important than first thought.

What is sad is to see the nº10 shirt on Brahim Diaz a player that has proven several times that he is not worthy of carrying such legandary shirt number not to mention that he on loan from Real Madrid you dont give such number to a player you dont own!

I agree with Milanisti. Pobega lacks pace and quality. He is a solid Serie A-midfielder, but he is not good enough for a Milan with hopes of competing both in Serie A and Europe.
Plus he runs in an awkward manner.
We seem to forget that at his age Kessie was mediocre at best and it was only last two seasons that be fan to blossom. Plus Pobega bossed Kessie physically several times when we played Torino and generally was their most imposing midfield player…at 22. Training with the first team and having a season of growth like Tonali could see a much different player by seasons end. Trust the insight of Pioli and his staff.
Well he definitely needs match fitness because he was quite behind the pace compared to the rest of the squad vs Koln. You can tell he was struggling getting back. Hope he does well to integrate
I’ve lost any interest in Sanches, at this point I’m a lot happier to keep Pobega (give him a new contract and tie him to 2027).
My only concern is if Sanches is considered a necessary stepping stone to get Leao to sign (to sweeten the deal for Mendes and get a compatriot for Leao)… I don’t doubt his talent, yes I vividly remember how he bossed Kessie + Bennacer in that 0-3 game, but I also remember that he didn’t make the next game against us due to injury. It’s hard to rely on a player for the big games if he’s injured. There are many players that have passed 30 years of age and play 10 games more per season than him.
We need another mid – as Poegba and Adli are still both young and still need a bit of time to adjust – no need to put that kind of pressure on them – similar to Tonali. But in long run both will be great. IF we could get Sanches for 15M that would be a great piece of business as we could still re-sell him in a year or two and provides cover in case Benny doesn’t re-sign OR a team pays his buy-out clause. So one more mid is needed. Also Great if we get CDK, but still need a RW and CB and could use a back-up LB. We will be playing 3 games every 7 days this season due to WC. More bodies are essential.
Pobega is very deserved to be 3rd Pivot. He can even challenge Bennacer for starting line-up. He is strong & big, and he might be better than Kessie someday.
Adli can be the 4th pivot if CDK arrive as 1st choice AMC. So i think our pivots are good without Renato Sanches.
For RW, Saelemaekers cant perform well pas season because there is no AMC that can distribute ball fast & good like Calhanoglu, and Saelemaekers isnt Leao type that enjoy 1v1 scenario, Saelemaekers do best with movements & fast, unpredictable penetration. Our RW might a;so improved a lot if CDK arrive as AMC.
