Pioli reveals how he will solve Brahim vs. Kessie dilemma and gives update on condition of several players

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has once again stressed that he picks the starting line-up and chooses key selection battles based on the condition of those available.

Pioli spoke to the media ahead of the trip south at his pre-match press conference about a number of topics including the team being in first place and the condition of several squad members. He also spoke on the Kessie vs. Brahim Diaz battle for the No.10 spot, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and relayed below.

“They have different characteristics. When chosen I look first at the physical condition and then I also look at what kind of match we have to play,” he said.

Milan have been without a number of key forwards already this season such as Ante Rebic and Olivier Giroud who have missed time due to physical problems, while at the moment Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marko Lazetic are sidelined.

On Lazetic: “He’s back in condition, he needs a personalised programme. I think he still needs 7-10 days to get together with the group. He has important characteristics.”

On Rebic: “He is better, even the minutes with Sampdoria helped him. He entered well, he lacked a goal. He is an important player for us.”

On Ibra: “He is better, I believe that between tomorrow and Sunday he will resume running. Then we will evaluate day after day, we will see when he can return to the group.”

    1. Braham doesn’t love Milan. He has made it known he wants to go back to Real Madrid. I do however want Kessie to ride the bench the rest of the season. Screw it. Dont even let him dress for the game.
