GdS: Pioli considers a change of formation to cover Theo’s absence – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

The absence of Theo Hernandez could force Stefano Pioli to change systems in view of a very challenging set of games, a report claims.

It is not yet known exactly how long the Frenchman will be out for after he suffered an adductor problem that forced him to miss out on representing his country over the international break, but multiple reports are suggesting he is aiming for the Juventus home game meaning he would miss the Empoli and Chelsea matches.

According to reports from today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Pioli is considering a change of formation to make up for the absence of Theo in the upcoming games.

The idea of the Rossoneri coach is to give more coverage to the team by deploying a three-man defence consisting of Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjaer and Pierre Kalulu as the centre-backs, with either Fode Ballo-Toure or Davide Calabria at left wing-back with Sergino Dest on the right.

  1. Everytime there is an injury to a starter, an article comes out about a potential formation change. Everytime the match day arrives, Pioli ends up simply replacing the injured player with another off the bench in the same formation. He has stuck with the same formation to start every match for almost his entire Milan career. These types of articles are largely based on assumption and very little research.

    1. These articles are based on bait, to which readers who want a formation change click it. Hence click bait 😂😂😂😂 and yes I agree with u haha. There’s no reason to change formation in the middle of the season and with no practice of said formation,.plus movements are different 🤷‍♂️
