Pioli claims Ibrahimovic can ‘withstand pressures’ of Sanremo saga and confirms: “We have studied a plan”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss some training sessions to attend the Sanremo Festival next week.

Ibrahimovic’s appearance at the festival has been a big talking point for several weeks now, especially based on how the player and Milan would organise the week around the commitments.

Il Corriere della Sera reported this morning (via MilanNews) that Ibra will be on stage every night except Wednesday when he will be on the pitch at San Siro in the match against Udinese. To prevent the Swede from commuting between Milan and Sanremo, the player will stay for a few days on the Riviera where he will train with help of a Milan trainer and a physiotherapist on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Pioli was interviewed by Sky Italia on the eve of Milan’s Europa League Round of 32 second leg against Red Star, and was asked about Ibrahimovic’s plans for the next week.

“He is calm and determined. There is a person, a champion, a boy who can withstand pressures it is Zlatan, or rather, perform even more competitive performances,” he said (via MilanNews).

“We have studied a plan to have him available as much as possible, he will skip some training, he will have our trainers to train. He is focused on the next matches to help the team as he always has.”
