GdS: Milan have a clear tactical identity but Pioli knows the details make the difference

By Oliver Fisher -

The season is a long and winding journey full of unpredictable turns that ultimately encapsulate the beauty of sport, and AC Milan saw that first hand over the weekend.

The Rossoneri dropped points in a 2-2 draw with bottom-placed side Salernitana, but La Gazzetta dello Sport points out (via MilanNews) that Stefano Pioli’s side showed heart and character to get a point from the game while Inter lost to Sassuolo without scoring and Atalanta were beaten by Fiorentina.

Milan have the clearest ideas on the field of any team in the title race but in recent months – after a run of 11 wins from 12 to begin the league season – the machine has lost a bit of linearity and brilliance. Nonetheless, the team have not lost their identity which involves running, the geometry of spaces, aggression and spirit.

In Milan there are all the ingredients to resist and hold out until the end but in a race until round 38 the best squad will not win, rather the one that manages to be more consistent than their rivals.
