Pioli confirms Florenzi has suffered a ‘fairly serious muscle injury’ but duo should return vs. Inter

Alessandro Florenzi could be set for an extended period on the sidelines as Stefano Pioli has admitted his muscle injury does not look good.

As the game against Sassuolo tonight drifted out towards the final whistle and a 0-0 scoreline, the last bit of bad fortune came in the last minute of normal time as Florenzi pulled up having suffered a painful injury.

The full-back was chasing a ball that landed over his shoulder and he instantly pulled up grimacing in pain. Pierre Kalulu initially tried to stretch it out presuming it to be cramp, but it became apparent it was a muscle problem in his thigh and Milan were forced to complete the game with 10 men.

Pioli spoke to MilanTV about the injury situation for his side ahead of the derby on Saturday and he spoke about Florenzi’s proble, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Florenzi, I think, it will be a fairly serious muscle injury. Rebic and Origi have the hope of recovering them for Saturday: Thursday and Friday are decisive,” he said.
