Tuttosport: Milan to discuss future with Pioli in the summer as next big step is sought

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to sit down with Stefano Pioli and discuss his future before the start of the 2022-23 season, according to a report.

During his interview with Radio Anch’io Sport yesterday, Pioli revealed that he sees himself at Milan for a long time – possibly ‘forever’ – though it must be remembered that he is only under contract until the summer of 2023.

As reported by Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.it), the leaders at Milan are obviously very appreciative of the work that Pioli has done, and he was granted a renewal until 2023 over the summer for that very reason.

That extension serves as to protect the club in case things go wrong, but the paper claims Rossoneri executives will sit down and talk to the coach in the summer to understand how to go forward. Everyone at Milan is aware that Pioli is able to get the most out of the squad, but there is a next step to take.

The former Lazio and Fiorentina boss is now being asked to win a trophy as per Tuttosport, something that the club have been missing for too long. The dream would be the Scudetto, but winning the Coppa Italia would give substance to the ambitions of Pioli and of the whole club.

  1. Yeah but he would need financial support from the board to do so I suppose, since we’re lacking in depth compared to Inter and Juve.

Probably this is why we didn’t spend on January, maybe the board would also want to know if Pioli is the right profile moving onwards, considering we were kind of in danger of losing pace with Inter just like last season. The derby’s victory did no harm obviously, and personally I hope he continues.
