Pioli highlights his ‘passion’ to improve as a coach and responds to ‘PioliOut’ hashtag

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has discussed his progression as a coach and claimed that he is not at all influenced by outside voices.

In the days leading up to Sunday’s game against Juventus there was speculation rife in the media about Pioli’s future, with the team having suffered some bad results in 2021, seeing them slip from first place in February to as low as fifth in the standings.

However, the response was emphatic as the Rossoneri put their top four fate back in their own hands with a 3-0 win over the Bianconeri. Several of the coach’s gambles paid off such as fielding a slightly different system, leaving Leao and Rebic on the bench and putting faith in Brahim Diaz.

It is perhaps a signed that Pioli is constantly evolving as a coach, and he spoke at the Milanello conference room on the eve of the match against Torino, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.

Can Pioli improve further as a coach?

“I try to improve every day. I have great passion inside, I don’t look at what I have done in the past. I want to continue growing, my growth process is not finished. Obviously past experiences have helped me, but I still have great desire to grow.”

What do you think when you hear or read ‘#PioliOut’?

“I’ve never heard of it here at Milanello, there is a great atmosphere. I’m positive and I will be as long as we work in this way.”

  1. Pioli is the only coach who is capable of making substitutions immediately when they are required (e.g. 60th minute). Leave him alone.

For example, Ancelotti made all his substitutions after 80th minute, which is ridiculous.
