MN: Pioli has to deal with injury crisis again but he is no stranger to them

By Oliver Fisher -

It was confirmed yesterday that AC Milan will be without Mike Maignan for at least another two weeks after a scan of his calf muscle did not provide positive results.

MilanNews writes that Maignan is at risk of missing the first games of 2023 due to his condition, while Divock Origi, Brahim Diaz, Rade Krunic and Junior Messias all have muscle injuries to add to the long-term absences of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi.

Stefano Pioli often had to face situations where there is a selection emergency of sorts, sometimes bringing the best out of certain players such as Pierre Kalulu, whom was transformed into a centre-back during the crisis last season.

The feeling is that once again Pioli will be able to bring the best out of the squad at his disposal, finding the right technical-tactical weapons to make up for absences and stimulating the group to go beyond their limits.

Pioli’s future is not in question as shown by the fact he renewed until 2025 earlier this year, confirming the faith of the management, with total synergy present between Pioli, Maldini, Massara and the board.
