Atletico Madrid are beginning to plan for life after Diego Simeone and they have both AC Milan and Inter head coaches on their shortlist, a report claims.
According to El Gol Digital (via Calciomercato.it), there are serious doubts at the moment about the relationship between Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid, with the Argentine experiencing a particularly difficult season and at the end of the current campaign he could say goodbye.
He has been in charge of Los Colchoneros for a decade now and he has never dropped below third place apart from a fifth-placed finish in his first season, winning LaLiga twice plus the Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, two Europa Leagues, two European Super Cups and reaching two Champions League finals.
However, Atletico are at risk of being outside the top four this season and that is why their leadership are beginning to think of who might replace Simeone. Milan boss Stefano Pioli, Inter’s Simone Inzaghi plus Ernesto Valverde and River Plate’s Marcelo Gallardo are on the list, with Valverde the favourite.
