CM: Pioli makes his hierarchies clear as resolution for Bakayoko’s situation is sought

By Oliver Fisher -

Tiemoue Bakayoko is now coming up to three months without an appearance for AC Milan and there are big question marks over his future, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report how Bakayoko’s last match with Milan was back on January 17 in the 2-1 defeat against Spezia at San Siro, and since that day Stefano Pioli has not used him even once. The midfielder is struggling to convince and it is not excluded that in the coming months the formula of the deal with Chelsea will be talked about.

The report mentions that there is the possibility that discussions will be held over terminating the agreement sooner than expected. Bakayoko returned to Milan last summer on a two-year loan with an option to buy for €15m which becomes an obligation under certain conditions: 15 appearances of at least 45 minutes in 2022-23.

The few games he has played this season so far therefore would not count towards the terms of the agreement, but they certainly show that the most likely option is the ending of his loan at the end of the season.

Pioli has made it clear that Tonali, Bennacer and Kessie are the three players he wants to trust for the double pivot and if they are healthy then Bakayoko and Krunic will not play.

  1. We need a change of strategy, if there is no number 10, then don’t play the system, switch to the 4-3-3 before it’s too late.
